Basic Information

As you probably know, Mamoru has existed on the Sailor Moon show longer than most of the Sailor Soldiers. He made his debut in the very first episode of Sailor Moon and the cruel Mamoru and mysterious Tuxedo Kamen.

 

In the first season of Sailor Moon, Tuxedo Mask was a mysterious ally of the Sailor Soliders. He would always rescue them when they were in danger and couldn’t fight for themselves.

 

Outside of battles he was quite rude with Usagi by calling her names and such, however he always seemed to run into her. There was always a slight attraction between the two which seemed somewhat weird since he’s in college and Usagi was in the 8th grade.

 

Eventually his true identity was revealed in front of Usagi as was her true identity as Sailor Moon. He revealed to Usagi in an elevator why he was after the rainbow crystals. He kept having a recurring dream about the Moon Princess telling him to get the rainbow crystals. He hoped that by finding the rainbow crystals he could learn about his past.

 

Mamoru’s parents died in a car crash when he was young and had lived by himself for quite a while. He was the only member of his family to survive the car crash, however he suffered from a serious head injury where he couldn’t remember anything.

 

In his past life, he was known as Prince Endymion (the prince of Earth.) He traveled to the Moon to warn the princess about Queen Beryl’s evil plan to take over the moon. This warning resulted in the death of the entire moon and his life. He was reborn as Chiba Mamoru.

 

Tuxedo Kamen hasn’t always been good. Zoycite kidnapped him from the face of the Earth and brought him to the Dark Kingdom where he obtained dark evil powers. Even when he was possessed with evil power, he still managed to save Sailor Moon and the other Soliders.

 

Mamoru has one other form known as the Moonlight Knight. This was a spirit of Mamoru that helped save the Sailor Soliders just like Tuxedo Kamen did, except it wasn’t Mamoru himself doing the good deeds.

 

Mamoru dumped Usagi during the R season of Sailor Moon because of his dreams telling him to, however at the end of the season he got back together with her and loved her forever.

 

During the final season of Sailor Moon (stars), Mamoru went to a University in the United States to study. This means he left Usagi in Japan alone, however he still loved her. He told her he wouldn’t have much time to write to her, and Usagi promised she would write to him everyday (as she did.)

 

Throughout the stars season Usagi begins to get depressed since she hadn’t heard from Mamoru in ages. She thought that he was ignoring her, however we find out at the end of the season that Mamoru had been killed by Galaxia on his flight to America.

 

He came back to life once Chaos was defeated at the end of Sailor Moon stars, and ended the show with himself and Usagi kissing.
